I intentionally organized the strips so the lighter sapwood and darker heartwood would create a repeating geometric composition once the board was cut and reassembled into end grain.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe diamonds, points, and lighter shapes across the surface come entirely from the natural color of the cherry. No dyes or stains are used to create the pattern. The wood provides the color, while the arrangement of the strips creates the design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeautiful enough to display and built to be used, Kentucky Ember works equally well as a cutting board, carving board, or serving board.
