Midnight Bourbon – Black Walnut End Grain Cutting and Serving Board

I named this board Midnight Bourbon as a nod to Kentucky’s bourbon heritage and the deep, dark character of the black walnut. The rich walnut tones give the board a bold foundation, while the narrow chaos strip introduces a burst of color and movement across the surface.
Handcrafted primarily from black walnut, Midnight Bourbon was designed using the natural contrast between darker heartwood and lighter sapwood as part of the composition. I intentionally arranged the strips so those natural color transitions would create visual movement once the board was cut and reassembled into end grain. The multi-species chaos strip adds another layer of contrast through a mix of hardwood colors and grain patterns.
Beautiful enough to display and built to be used, Midnight Bourbon is a one-of-a-kind piece that can move easily from food prep to serving. Its size and visual presence make it especially well suited for carved meats, charcuterie, breads, cheeses, appetizers, or a full table spread where the board itself becomes part of the presentation.
End grain construction is prized for its durability and knife-friendly surface. The wood fibers stand vertically, allowing the cutting surface to better absorb knife impact, reduce visible scoring, and help preserve your knife edges over time.
Every board is thoroughly conditioned with food-grade mineral oil, then protected with a hand-applied coat of natural beeswax and carefully buffed to a smooth satin finish. A complimentary 2 oz tin of Larson Wood Designs Board Butter is included to help keep your board looking its best for years to come.
